Terrorism simply means to create an overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety among the people. This word is not new to the World. Mankind have been inflicted with the bitter taste of terrorism from the time immemorial. It has different hues and aspects with the varying impact and interpretations according to different places. But what the World is witnessing in the present time cannot be named by the simple name of Terrorism as it has surpassed its literal meaning by the killing of innocent people under the banner to avenge something against a particular community. Terrorists cannot be said to belong to a particular religion which a common man follows because none of the existing religions encourage killing of the innocent people. The only religion of the terrorists is Terrorism. To their misfortune, these wicked people are entangled in the delusionary feeling of sacrificing their lives for the sake of spreading the message of Almighty or protecting their religious principles etc. They have lost their ability to come out of their unreal and imaginary destructive world and feel the real meaning of the religion. The account of Jihaad in the Qur’an is miserably being misinterpreted by these people for their gains. “Jihaad” stands for the strengthening and purification of the inner self pillared on the obedience – itaa’at of Allaah Ta’aala, His Prophets and the Du’aat (missionaries) acting as the guardians of Da’watullaah in the revered place of the Prophets.
Allaah Ta’aala says in the Qur’an-e-kareem,
“Man qatala nafsan beghaire nafsin aw fasaadin fil arze fa-ka’annama qatalan naasa jamee’aa
waman ahyaaha fa-ka’annama ahyan naasa”
‘If anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) one who spreads mischief in the land – it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind’. (32/5)
This verse clearly indicates that killing innocent people is the killing of the whole mankind. Imaam Ja’far us-Saadiq (as) has said that, “Haliddeena illal hubbe?” which means ‘Is religion anything but love?’ In general “hubb” implies the love of the fellow human being and in particular means the devotion and respect for Ahl ul-Bayt (as). Islaam never preaches of killing innocent people in the pretext of Jihaad or Jihaad itself never means killing the non-Muslims. The word Islaam itself is derived from “aslama” which means safety and protection.
Huzoor-e-Aali Saiyedna saheb (tus) addressed the mumineen on the occasion of the Namaaz of Eid ul-Azhaa in the Masjid un-Nooraani and criticised the heinous acts of the evil people in the city of Mumbai. He said, ‘These are the people who have never understood the real meaning of Islaam and in the present times they have become the cause of the disgrace on the face of Islaam.’ Huzoor-e-Aali (tus) added that, ‘O mumineen, the festival of Eid ul-Azhaa reminds us the sacrifice of Khaleelullaah Ibraaheem Nabi (as) in the way of Allaah and conveys the message to us that we also should always be ready to sacrifice ourselves in the way of Allaah.’ He requested the mumineen to celebrate the Eid ul-Azhaa with simplicity and minimalism. The talebat (students) of Madrasat-e-Taiyebiyah joined the students from all Madrasahs of the Vadodara in the rally of protest against the terror attacks in Mumbai.
